Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, R-04 began to study classical piano at the age of 6. When inspired by Detroit Techno music at a rave held in Japan, R-04 started to compose his own electronic music with his first synthesizer in 1999. Still enjoying jazzy piano solo pieces on the grand piano, R-04’s music sometimes is something between jazz and techno. In 2009, R-04’s official first singles “Gazing at the Moon” and “Chaser EP” were released. Now R-04’s music is supported by various artists around the world. Among them are Rennie Foster, Beroshima, Jeff Mills, Chez Damier, Robert Owens, Secret Cinema, John Beltran, Jeremy Ellis (Ayro), PFM, etc.

Also active as a mysterious web & blog manager for the pianist Masahiro Kawakami.
